September 2026 is crowded with major international sports. The US Open is under way, Berlin opens the Women’s Basketball World Cup on 4 September, and Budapest, Baku and Aichi-Nagoya follow later in the month.

US Open Reaches the Third Round

The US Open runs from 23 August to 13 September. The singles main draw began on 30 August, and third-round matches are scheduled for 4 September. The women’s final takes place on 12 September, followed by the men’s final on 13 September. Several matches can be in progress at the same time, and the tennis section on Melbet AZlink outside website combines betting markets with live scores and match data, keeping the day’s action together as play moves across the courts.

The singles field narrows quickly. Matches in the round of 16 will be played on 6-7 September, quarter-finals on 8-9 September, women’s semi-finals on 10 September and men’s semi-finals on 11 September.

The closing singles schedule is:

• 8–9 September: quarter-finals;

• 10 September: women’s semi-finals;

• 11 September: men’s semi-finals;

• 13 September: men’s final.

The crucial singles matches will be played at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The women’s final will take place on September 12 at 16:00. The men’s final will take place on September 13 at 14:00.

Berlin Expands the Women’s Basketball World Cup

The FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup will take place in Berlin from September 4th to the 13th. This year, 36 games will be played over the course of 10 days, with 16 national teams, compared to the 12-team format used in 2022. During a tournament with several games scheduled each day, the mobile interface reached through Melbet indirlink outside website keeps the betting section in a compact phone format, with sports content available without moving the tournament itself away from its match-by-match structure.

FIBA has placed all teams into four groups of four. Winners of each group move on to the quarterfinals. For the remaining quarterfinal spots, second- and third-place teams will have to play knockout games against each other.

Tournament Dates Host
US Open 23 Aug–13 Sep New York
FIBA Women’s World Cup 4–13 Sep Berlin
World Athletics Ultimate Championship 11–13 Sep Budapest
Asian Games 19 Sep–4 Oct Aichi-Nagoya
Azerbaijan Grand Prix 24–26 Sep Baku

Tennis and basketball finish first. Athletics follows, while the Asian Games and Formula 1 occupy the second half of September.

Budapest Debuts a New Athletics Championship

The first World Athletics Ultimate Championship takes place in Budapest from 11 to 13 September. Twenty-eight events are packed into three evening sessions, far shorter than the regular World Athletics Championships.

The total prize money for this event is $10 million, with $150,000 going to each individual winner. There will be several events that will go directly to their final (the 1500 meters, 5000-meter races, relay races, and field events). Other track events will have preliminary heats or semis before advancing to their final.

Formula 1 Returns to Central Baku

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix will take place from 24th to 26th September. There will be practice sessions held on Thursday, with two sessions on the Friday preceding the race, which will be held on Saturday.

Baku City Circuit has four useful reference figures:

1. circuit length — 6.003 km;

2. race length — 51 laps;

3. total distance — 306.049 km;

4. fastest race lap — 1:43.009, Charles Leclerc in 2019.

In 2016, the first Formula 1 race in Baku, the European Grand Prix, was held. The race became the Azerbaijan Grand Prix the following year. The design of the track in Baku makes the cars go by the old city and then open up to a long, high-speed section.

Asian Games Continue into October

The Asian Games are scheduled for a period of September 19-October 4 in Aichi-Nagoya. The additional sport programs at the Asian Games include all Olympic events and those most represented in Asia.

Part of the Asian Games for Azerbaijan will coincide with the F1 weekend in Baku. Azerbaijani Athletes will therefore compete abroad as their capital city is hosting the event of an International Motor Racing Weekend.

Baku Has Its Own Place in the September Calendar

Most of the month’s major titles will be decided outside Azerbaijan, but Formula 1 puts Baku directly on the international schedule. Teams, drivers and race operations arrive in the city for a three-day event staged on public streets around the center.

While other athletes prepare for the World Championships, Azerbaijani athletes have the Asian Games to look forward to. August and September contain a lot of tennis, basketball, and athletics events, so September will be a month of distance rather than a monopoly of a single championship.
